If you’ve ever shared a three-bedroom apartment with more than two roommates, you’ll understand how wisdom teeth can be a problem. Since they arrive years after your other permanent teeth, you may lack adequate space for them to erupt properly. Dr. Sood may recommend wisdom teeth removal in Crofton to:
Most people get their wisdom teeth in their late teens or early 20s. If you have family members in that age range, Dr. Sood will pay special attention to their wisdom teeth during their dental exams. While not all wisdom teeth need to be removed, extraction is typically easier if performed at a young age.
Call 301-261-3800 to schedule an exam for you or other family members.
As with any other tooth extraction, Dr. Sood will first numb your mouth with topical anesthesia, a laser, or local anesthesia. You may also want to receive dental sedation, especially if you’re having multiple wisdom teeth removed. Oral sedation offers a deeply relaxed sensation.
It will:
In addition to anesthesia and sedation, our team can make you comfortable with a pillow and blanket while we work. Following your procedure, you’ll want to take it easy for a few days. We’ll provide you with complete instructions to ensure a smooth recovery.

Everyone is friendly and caring. Dr. Sood is very kind, friendly, understanding and great at what she does. The hygienists are gentle, friendly and instructive. Michelle did a thorough job on my teeth! The front desk staff are kind and VERY helpful – especially Lindsey!! She is patient and on top of things. It’s also nice to see a family dental practice where family supports the practice – thumbs up to Mr. Sood for supporting his wife and providing a cheerful welcome to patients!
I very highly recommend Dr Sood. I’ve been a patient ever since Dr Sood took over the practice. She is a very competent doctor who cares a lot about her patients. Today the hygienist Michelle did a great job cleaning my teeth, as did Suzy at my previous visit.
Dr. Sood and her staff, especially Lindsay are the best! They are personable, genuine and truly care about their patients. Dr. Sood takes the time to explain things and answers questions. I never feel rushed in the appointments. They are the absolute best!

Wisdom teeth usually emerge between the ages of 17 and 25. If there is sufficient room for them to come in in the proper place and position, then they may not need removal. However, if they come in improperly and put your other teeth at risk, they will need to be removed to protect your overall oral health.
While you should feel much better within a day or two, it can take up to two weeks to fully recover. During this time you may experience mild discomfort and swelling. You can speed your recovery by avoiding smoking and alcohol and eating soft foods for the first few days. Rinsing with warm salt water also helps lessen gum tenderness and inflammation.
We make wisdom teeth removal as pain-free as possible by numbing your mouth with local anesthesia. You can also choose an oral sedative prior to your extraction to make you less aware of sensations, sights, and sounds during your surgery. Following your procedure, you may experience minor discomfort for a few days. It can often be managed with an over-the-counter pain reliever. If needed, we can provide stronger medication.
We can see you as soon as tomorrow!
